Inspection of Building Sites

Inspection of Building Sites along Regent Road and Hill Station Area. The Building Inspectorate Division of the Housing Department in the Ministry of Works, Housing and Infrastructure embarked on an inspection tour of Building Constructions along the Regent Road/Hill Station axis in the Western Rural Area Mountain District. The tour was led by the Deputy Secretary Mr. John K Manu and included the Ag Chief Building Inspector Mr. Delphon Pratt and a Building Supervisor Mr. Tamba Ngeba.

This tour was taken to ensure all Building Constructions are authorized through the obtaining or renewing of Building Permits and that Building Constructions are done in accordance with approved specifications and standards. This monitoring exercise will increase revenue collection for government as stakeholders will be forced to obtain/renew their Building Permits.

It was found out that most of the new constructions were unauthorized because the developers did not obtain Building Permits whilst some had expired Building Permits. An extension was been made to the frontage of an existing building without obtaining Building Permit. This extension encroaches into the “Right of Way” which is forbidden by Government Regulations. In another development an additional floor was been added to an existing building without obtaining Building Permit.

This is the start of a series of planned inspection that will cover the Western Area.

Lets join together!
