Road Projects Being Constantly Monitored Despite Ebola Outbreak

In a bid to achieve President Koroma’s dream on Infrastructural Development and the Agenda for Prosperity, the Acting Works, Housing and Infrastructure Minister, Abdul B. Barrie has said that he will still continue to do constant monitoring on all the on going roads projects countrywide despite we are on the fight against the killing Ebola disease.

He made this disclosure when he led a team of Engineers from the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) over the weekend to inspect the Matotoka to Koidu road and the Township Roads in Kono city. Mr. Barrie encouraged the few International Experts who are still around, CHICO and GUICOPRES companies that are working on the main trunk road and Township roads respectively to sum up perseverance as Government is making frantic effort to eradicate this Ebola killing disease.

He told them that Kono in particular is not alarming in terms of this disease and they must at least be managing with the maintenance, patching and other works that are possible during this period before we approach the dry season.

The Project Manager, GUICOPRES Jean-Baptiste Lamah assured the Minister and team that they are doing the alignment and correcting some of the bad drainages that were done sometimes back by WELL GROUP Company.

Mr. Lamah also stated that they had done part of the culverts, slabs and priming of the main Kaikondu road and the critical bridge at Konomayni Street. Terry Hung of CHICO Company working on the Koidu trunk road assured the team that the Company will continue to go ahead with the maintenance and patching of this road which he described is in a deplorable condition for now.
